CHICAGO MASS CHOIR RETURNS FROM SUCCESSFUL SPAIN TOUR NEW SINGLE AVAILABLE MARCH 2024
The renown Chicago Mass Choir closed out 2023 with an exciting and successful 22-day trip to Spain. Throughout the month of December, the multi-award winning Choir toured 14 cities and performed 15 concerts in cities like Andorra, Madrid, Las Palmas De Gran, Canaria, Vitoria and Salamanca.
This tour marked the first since 2019 for the two-time Grammy and Dove Award finalist, and came just prior to the upcoming release of a brand new recording on the New Haven Records label. He’s A Wonder is set to release March 22, 2024. According to New Haven President, Ken Harding, the debut single from their 2024 project will be released to radio in the next few weeks. “The new single, He’s A Wonder, is classic Chicago Mass Choir. We know their supporters and radio will be thrilled with this release. Chicago Mass Choir’s unique style of traditional Gospel music is loved nationally, as well as internationally,” Harding continues. “Their December tour of Spain was just the most recent in a series of concerts aboard including Italy, Switzerland, Croatia and Greece, just to name a few. The timing of this tour couldn’t be better with the release of their first single from their new album project Greater Is Coming, that will also be released later this year,” Harding states.
The December trip abroad marked the 17th time Chicago Mass Choir has traveled internationally, but the first since 2019 due to the worldwide pandemic. “We were truly blessed to return to touring abroad,” states Dr. Feranda Williamson, President-CEO of Chicago Mass Choir. “God has truly blessed us, and I am so thankful to God for opening doors for us to tour abroad again.”
The trip demanded a rigorous travel schedule that included six flights, as well as long bus rides getting from city to city but the end results were well worth the efforts, as each concert was sold-out and spirit-filled. “The audiences were so engaging; even coming to the stage and the front of the auditorium to give God praise! We realized that we have a following that attends our concerts each time we are in Spain. That was truly special to see.”
Additionally, Dr. Williamson had the opportunity to teach a master class to the Palma Gospel Choir in Palma, Spain. “That was such a wonderful experience. During our concert, the choir joined us in singing Oh Happy Day. This was an amazing collaboration to have both choirs come together as one united voice to give God praise,” Dr. Williamson shares. “The interesting dynamic about the master class was that they realized that they have the same choir dynamics we have as it relates to working with choir members. It truly was a joy working with them.”
Chicago Mass Choir also took advantage of their time in Spain as they visited one of Madrid’s major Spanish radio stations. “We had an opportunity to sing a couple of songs, as well as have our appearance streamed LIVE throughout Spain. That was very exciting,” Dr. Williamson states.
She beams with excitement as she reflects on the overall success of the trip. “Although, I have enjoyed every experience to share our ministry abroad, our Spain 2023 Gospel Tour was the best! I am excited for all God has for us for even greater opportunities to return to Spain and other countries in the future.”
Founded by James Chambers in 1988, the Chicago Mass Choir has achieved worldwide notoriety, producing 17 recordings and receiving numerous honors and accolades, including the 2017 Stellar Award for Traditional Choir of the Year, as well as a Stellar Award nomination for Traditional Album of the Year for their latest recording, My Soul Says Yes.
Chicago Mass Choir’s first single He’s A Wonder, from their soon-to-be released Greater Is Coming recording, will be available on March 22 via all streaming platforms.
