Joshua’s Troop

Bio

Originating from Chicago, IL, Joshua’s Troop consists of more than 50 young people and a band that ranges in age from 16 to 22 years old. Blending urban and hip hop tracks with contemporary gospel, Joshua’s Troop proves to be a vocally experienced group beyond their youthful years.

Joshua’s Troop was birthed from a vision of Pastor Clay Evans, the founder of the African American Religious Connection (AARC) and Pastor Charles Jenkins, successor to Pastor Evans at Fellowship Methodist Baptist Church of Chicago. Their desire was to create a youth and young adult division of the AARC convention headed up by Pastor Jenkins that focused primarily on those attending between 12-30 years old. Joshua’s Troop began as the music ministry of this division.

The name of the group came about as a result of the relationship between the two pastors. During the time of transition from Pastor Evans to Pastor Jenkins at Fellowship Methodist Baptist Church, they were referred to as Moses and Joshua. The name Joshua remained with Pastor Jenkins, and so the group became his troops…Joshua’s Troop.

JT3 is a youthful blend of praise & worship and gospel choir music all rolled into one dynamic package. If you like Tye Tribbett and Youthful Praise, you will love the sound of the Troops. They’re a vocally experienced group beyond their youthful years.
